Youth Work Permit

All children between the ages of 14 and 17 are required to obtain work permits before beginning employment (G.L. c. 149, §§ 86-89).

An Employment Permit Application for 14 through 17 Year-Olds must be completed before a permit can be issued. This application can be downloaded online from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts website, or picked up at the Main Office at the High School. Included with this application are the work hours and occupation restrictions.

Once the work permit application has been completed by the employer, parent, and physician, it may be presented at the Main Office at the High School and a work permit will then be issued. For those students who are not currently attending school in Franklin, a birth certificate must be presented as proof of age before a certificate will be issued.
