Governor’s Supplemental Budget – Education Earmark Awards
I am excited to share that Franklin has been awarded two education earmarks under the Fair Share Supplemental Budget. Governor Healey’s Supplemental Budget, signed on June 24, 2025, invests in education and transportation across the Commonwealth, with funding directed toward projects that support students at every level.
The first earmark, $75,000, will support the replacement of a specialized transportation van. This funding enables us to continue updating our aging fleet, ensuring that students who require these services have access to safe and reliable transportation. Special thanks go to State Representative Jeff Roy for his advocacy in securing this important support.
The second earmark, $100,000, will support the first phase of improvements within our school courtyards, transforming them into outdoor learning environments and engaging spaces for students. These redesigned areas will enhance the interior spaces within the school footprint, creating safe, flexible, and inspiring environments for hands-on learning and social interaction. Special thanks to State Senator Rebecca Rausch for her advocacy in securing these important funds.
Details on the earmarks statewide can be found on the state’s website:

We are deeply grateful for this recognition and support. Thank you to our legislators and community partners for their continued advocacy on behalf of Franklin Public Schools.
FY26 MIIA Safety Grant
I would like to thank the Town of Franklin and Town Administrator Jamie Hellen and his staff for supporting Franklin Public Schools in submitting our proposal for additional two-way radios for our schools. The proposal was awarded in the amount of $9,945. These two-way radios help to support a safe learning environment for students and staff, and ensure quick and efficient communication throughout each school day and in the event of an emergency.

Dear Franklin High School Community:
Franklin High School has plenty to celebrate after an incredible weekend of achievements!
The Boys Basketball team made history last night, capturing the Division 1 State Championship in a hard-fought battle that tested their skill and mental toughness. Finishing the season with an outstanding 27-1 record, they also remained undefeated in the Hockomock League for the second consecutive year—a feat never before accomplished in league history. This marks Franklin’s fourth state final appearance in the last nine years and its first-ever state championship in school history. We couldn’t be prouder of these athletes and their coaching staff for their grit, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
A special shoutout to Rattle City, our passionate student fan section, whose energy and school spirit were recognized by MIAA staff for their good-natured, enthusiastic support of their team.
The Winter Cheerleading team also brought home a huge victory, beating 65 teams and winning the Grand Championship at the Americheer International Competition this past weekend. They broke the highest score record with an impressive 96.98! This team went undefeated this season. Their success didn’t stop there—they also clinched the Division 1 State Championship for the winter season, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication.
Meanwhile, the Franklin High School Theater Company continues to shine! Their performance of The Yellow Boat has earned them a spot in the state final competition of the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) Drama Festival. They will take the stage at the Back Bay Events Center in Boston on Friday, March 28th, at 2:00 PM. We will share ticket information for those wishing to attend. Stay tuned for more information!
Congratulations to all of our students, coaches, and staff on these incredible achievements—we are so proud of you! Go Panthers!
With FHS Pride,
Maria Weber
Principal, Franklin High School
