The guidance and counseling staff at Franklin High School work collaboratively with various stakeholders to support students’ education, including teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians. Parents play an important role in their student’s education, including supporting academic needs, providing input in the scheduling process, and assisting with the post-high school process. The counseling department collaborates with parents/guardians when concerns arise at school and encourages families to reach out to the student’s counselor if they have situations at home for which a guidance and/or adjustment counselor could provide support. During the school year, the guidance department offers a parent night to both Junior and Senior parents to discuss information around post-high school plans. We encourage all parents/guardians to reach out with any questions that may arise.
Parent meeting night presentations:
Aspen: This is the student/family portal to access student information. Through Aspen, parents are able to set-up grade threshold email notifications, review assignments that have been passed-in or are missing, grades, attendance, and conduct information. We recommend checking in with your student at least weekly as a way to hold your student accountable for their academics. Please use this link to request an Aspen password reset.
Google Classroom: During the school year, guidance counselors will send updates to their Google Classroom pages for the respective grade levels. New students and incoming 9th graders will be provided with a code to join their Guidance Google Classroom. Parents will be able to join if invited by their student.
Parent brag sheet: As parents/guardians have great insight into their student, guidance counselors ask for input about the student to best support them through the college application process. The brag sheet is for 12th grade parents/guardians only.
Athletics info: This is a link to the Athletics page on the Franklin High School website. If your child is interested in playing a sport or they are already a student athlete, please see this link for sports sign-ups, standings, schedules, etc.
