First Day Logistics
Main entrance- Lord’s Way
The main entrance from Washington Street, known as Lord’s Way, will become 2 lanes. Cars that are lining up to drop off or pick up their children will stay to the LEFT. Buses and vans will stay to the RIGHT.
Arrival 7:00-7:20 am
If you are transporting your child to school, you will enter the car loop (around the main parking lot) to drop off. When driving through the loop, please do not pass other cars. Students may not be dropped off in the parking lot. Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:00 am for anyone who arrives early. Early students will wait outside until 7:10 am. Students will be marked tardy if they are not in their advisory by 7:20 am. We strongly recommend students arrive by 7:15 to give them time to get to their first class on by 7:20.
Where will students go on the first day of school? How will they know?
Students will enter through the main entrance and will report directly to their Flex period (On Wednesday, students will start to report to their Advisory to begin their day). Staff will be in the hallways to greet and guide our students to ensure they get to the right place. If your student has not yet looked on Aspen for their Flex/homeroom teacher, they should do it prior to Tuesday morning.Dismissal 1:55 pm
Please plan for a 1:55pm dismissal for your student until the end of September. We will make announcements when clubs and the late bus are up and running.
Parents/guardians may not park in the lot and walk to the sidewalk to collect their children as this slows down the line for all. If your child has a medical issue or other documented need, please contact the office to discuss an alternate plan.
Finally, the majority of our students are transported to school in cars. If everyone follows these guidelines and has patience, the line will move smoothly and efficiently. When individuals try to circumvent these procedures, it holds everyone else up. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. We would also encourage you to share this communication with any grandparents, baby-sitters, older siblings, etc. who will be driving your child to and from school.
Dismissing Students Early
We understand that students will need to be dismissed during the school day. It would be extremely helpful if in the morning, you provide a note, an email, or call the attendance line. This will allow for a more organized and efficient dismissal for your student.
As dismissal begins at 1:55, we recommend not trying to dismiss your student after 1:45. At the end of the day, students are typically transitioning from class to their lockers to another class. This can be hectic and lead to your student not being dismissed until the first round of typical dismissals.
Backpacks & Chromebooks
Students should bring their backpack every day. 7th & 8th graders should bring their charged chromebooks as well. 6th grade and new students will receive chromebooks on Tuesday.
Please register your chromebook by visiting this link:
If you do not have your chromebook or you do not have the tag number, please type in "no tag" in the form. During the registration process you will have the opportunity to purchase OPTIONAL chromebook insurance for the year. This is a great bargain and it is strongly recommended that you take advantage of this offer. This has prevented many families from having to pay $200 for a replacement chromebook!
First Day Paperwork
Please be on the lookout for any paperwork coming home on the first day. We try to limit the amount of paper handouts given throughout the year, but we always need to share some important information to start the year! Additionally, there will be electronic forms coming from the main office that you will need to fill out at the start of the year.
Bus Information
Bus routes have been posted on the Transportation Website. All bus passes will be distributed to students AT SCHOOL on the first day.
Students will not need a bus pass on the morning of August 30th to ride the bus. Important information regarding bus transportation for the 2022-23 school year can be found on the district website.
Routines for the New Year
Lockers: Students will utilize lockers for specific items such as lunch, coats, and cell phones, as well as school materials. Locker breaks will be limited and designated by each team at the start of the year. Lockers will be assigned during homeroom time on the first day of school.
Locker assignments and locker practice will take place as part of our school"s orientation activities this first week.
Lunch
Here is what your student can expect:
- Students will be sitting six to a table
- Students will be able to choose who they sit with
- School lunch menus will consist of the "main" menu and several other options. Menus are nearly complete for all schools and will be put on our website soon. Students do not need to pre-order lunches.
- All students are allowed 1 free breakfast and lunch daily and will be charged accordingly for second meals and a la carte items.
- We will be using our new Point of Sale System (Titan) to track meals and any a la carte purchases.
- Students must have funds in their accounts to purchase a second meal or any a la carte purchases.
