RemDawg Bark
Back to School!
Welcome to the Remington Community!
The RemDawg Bark newsletter will be sent monthly throughout the school year to provide timely information and to give you a glimpse into life at Remington Middle School!
Included in this newsletter are reminders about summer reading and math opportunities,
recommended supply lists, as well as updates on student schedules and locker tryouts. You will also find information regarding placement information, aspen password resets, student medication paperwork, and bus transportation for 2022-2023.
Summer Reading and Math (One Final Reminder!)
SUMMER READING
- Franklin Middle School students are required to read at least two books this summer.
- Use this log to record the books you read and return to your ELA teacher in the fall.
- Students will share one of their summer reading books in the fall.
- This is a great way to connect with new teachers and peers!
- We recommend that students take brief notes on their favorite title to keep their memory fresh.
- Acclaimed author Leslie Connor is scheduled to visit us in October! Students are encouraged to read or listen to one of her books this summer.
- Review the attached Summer Reading Recommendation List for a list of great titles.
SUMMER MATH
The Summer Math resources are linked below. The key takeaway in these resources is that these are strongly recommended activities!

Supply Lists
2022-2023 Supply Lists
Grade level recommended supply lists are linked below, they are also posted on our RMS website. Each grade level thoughtfully drafted a basic list of essential supplies as students and families prepare for the new school year.
If families need any assistance in purchasing a backpack or school supplies for your child please contact Ms. Durand in the office at durandd@franklinps.net
August 23rd: Schedules posted in Aspen!
This year, we will one again be posting student placement and schedules for the 2022-2023 school year in Aspen. Student placement letters will no longer be mailed home. Our target date for publishing student information in Aspen is Tuesday, August 23rd. We will send an email message to students and families once this has happened with instructions to access your child's schedule and placement information.
Aspen Information
All students have Aspen student accounts created for them. Parents/guardians can also request a separate family Aspen account. Families and students should check to make sure their accounts are active in order to view team placement and schedules. For our 6th grade students, you will receive information about accessing those accounts with the placement letter information on Tuesday, 8/23. To request a password reset for your existing Aspen account or to create a new family account, please complete this form.
The link for Franklin's Aspen portal is:

**7th and 8th grade students: We encourage you to try accessing your student and family Aspen accounts prior to August 23th to prevent a high volume of password resets on that day.**
Locker Tryouts August 25th!
We are excited to offer the opportunity for our incoming 6th graders and new 7th and 8th grade students to get some summer practice opening one of our lockers!
Stop by RMS during one of the following locker tryout times:
- Thursday, August 25th - 10:00am - 11:00am
- Thursday, August 25th - 6:00pm - 7:00pm
While students will not be practicing their own individual locker, many have found it helpful to at least go through the process of opening one. Additionally, this will give students an opportunity to walk our 6th grade hallway (and maybe even peek into a classroom or two!) prior to the first day of school.
Bus Registration
Bus Registration for the 2022-2023 school year can be completed using our online registration. For details on how to register, visit our transportation page:
For more information regarding bus transportation:
Our goal is to have a late bus run again for the 2022-2023 school year. We know that this serves as a tremendous help for families. More information and updates will be provided as we finalize bus routes for the fall.
Medication Drop Off

- Take their emotional pulse
- Have them reflect on personal goals
- Offer structured fun, directed social time
