My name is Jill Kurek. I am the English Language Development (ELD) teacher for the Annie Sullivan, Horace Mann, and Remington Middle Schools in Franklin. You may have also heard the terms EL, ELL, or ESL teacher. These are other names for an ELD teacher.
My students are multilingual. They are learning English, and they can communicate in one or more additional languages. I help them develop their English skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I also act as a "cultural ambassador," helping students and families learn about their school and Franklin. Above all else, my goal is to ensure that students feel safe.
