Guidance Office

Overview
Guidance and school counseling services are provided to students through a collaborative process which includes both guidance counselors and school adjustment counselors as part of each student's Support Team. Upon enrollment at FHS, students are assigned to one of three House Offices. Under the umbrella of each House Office there is an assistant principal, secretary, administrative liaison, and multiple guidance counselors assigned alphabetically to students based on the student's last name. While all members of a support team work to maximize the academic success, personal growth, and social/emotional welfare of each student, guidance counselors often take the lead in monitoring student academic performance and long-term planning while school adjustment counselors often take the lead in supporting student’s social-emotional well-being as it relates to their ability to be successful in all areas of their school experience.
While students will meet with their school adjustment counselor on an as-needed basis, guidance services are provided for each student through both individual and group meetings in order to communicate the opportunities available for intellectual as well as personal growth. Through these individual and seminar style meetings, guidance counselors assist students in the development of a meaningful high school program, exploration of interest and abilities, and to develop educational as well as personal goals and plans.
