SEL Forum from Senator Karen Spilka

Supporting our Students Through COVID-19 & Beyond

As a former school committee member and social worker, Senate President Karen E. Spilka recognizes the role of mental health in education. As a part of her #MetroWestKids Initiative to promote the benefits of social-emotional learning, she is organizing a forum for parents and educators to help address students’ stress and mental health, and provide strategies to deal with the many pressures students are facing during COVID. The Rennie Center will be presenting on how schools and communities can support students’ health and wellbeing during and beyond the pandemic.

The event will feature a panel of experts from public schools in Framingham, Natick, and Methuen and is scheduled for Friday, March 19, 2021, on Zoom from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will be the fourth in a series presented by Senate President Spilka as part of her #MetroWestKids initiative to reduce student stress levels, build resilience, and promote overall wellness.
